The outrigger array is composed of 345 tanks filled with purified water. Each tank is 1.55 m in diameter and 1.65 m in height and they are separated with distance between 12 to 18 m. They are equipped by a single Hamamatsu R5912 8” photomulitplier tube (PMT) upward facing and anchored at the bottom of the tank. In order to limit the cable length between tanks and the readout electronics, the array is divided into 5 sections, named with letters from A to E (see Fig 1) containing 69 tanks each. The equipment needed to run and acquire the data for each section is centralised into nodes located in the middle of each section. The deployment of the outrigger array happened between September 2017. September 2018 (the timeline can be seen in Figure 1). The array has been continuously taking data since then. Analogue signals from the PMTs are sent through RG-59 cables to the node. This signal is separated from the HV that powers the PMT by a pick-off module.
Many studies have been performed on group decision making, and the results have all been fairly consistent. The experiments typically don't involve social decisions, but are visual in nature because most researchers feel that simple visual recognition experiments eliminate bias. In another study, pairs put their minds together to decide which striped duos had the highest contrast. Many other studies have followed a similar model, and across the board, the results indicate that two heads are absolutely better than one. But there's a qualifier: This is only the case when the subjects could converse about their confidence in the decision. Not only that but honesty about one's own abilities is also necessary to ensure a positive result for a group decision. Honesty about one's own abilities is hard to come by, according to Cornell researchers David Dunning and Justin Kruger, who found out through a series of experiments that people are prone to exaggerate their own skills and abilities, aka the Dunning-Kruger effect.
You can do so much more on a iPad than merely type! If you're an iPad user -- or perhaps thinking about becoming one -- you've probably considered the various ways the device can make your life a little more fun. Sure, you can read books, play games or watch movies, but what about using your iPad to organize your life? The market for personal productivity apps has positively exploded since the iPad first came on the market in 2010. App developers have seized on the iPad as a tool that's portable. Flexible enough to accomplish the many different things people need to get done on a daily basis. Look no further than this list of 10 iPad apps for personal productivity. The Notes Plus app for iPad ($4.99) is a great way to take notes in whatever form suits you best. Whether it's by hand, typing or audio recording, Notes Plus can accommodate you; it's even possible to switch from one method to another and back in one note-taking document.|In March and April 2021, as part of the Russo-Ukrainian War, Russian president Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian military to begin massing thousands of personnel and equipment near its border with Ukraine and in Crimea, representing the largest mobilization since the annexation of Crimea in 2014. This had precipitated an international crisis. Generated concerns over a potential invasion. Satellite imagery showed movements of armour, missiles, and heavy weaponry. The crisis was renewed in October 2021, when over 100,000 Russian troops were again massed around Ukraine on three sides by December. The ongoing crisis stems from the protracted Russo-Ukrainian War that began as an unrest in early 2014. In December 2021, Russia advanced two draft treaties that contained requests for what it referred to as "security guarantees", including a legally binding promise that Ukraine would not join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as well as a reduction in NATO troops and military hardware stationed in Eastern Europe, and threatened unspecified military response if those demands were not met in full.
The other major challenge was the development of ”cool” atmosphere models characterised by strong molecular absorptions and, for the coolest objects, by condensation processes (see Allard et al (1997) and references therein). As brown dwarf observations deliver data with increasing accuracy and level of details, modellers need to increase the sophistication of the theory, requiring new physical ingredients and processes to face the reality of observations. This paper, far from being a comprehensive review of the physics of brown dwarfs, will focus on some recent developments and novelties which I find exciting as they reflect a thriving and innovative field. This choice will hopefully provide guidance and motivate future generation of students and young researcher to work on the theory of brown dwarfs. The paper is organised as follows. I will first discuss current developments in atmosphere. Inner structure modelling respectively. I will then discuss young brown dwarfs. Current ideas regarding their very early evolution.|Many professionals such as doctors are required to take continuing education classes. When you go to the emergency room, you expect the doctors and nurses to have the latest information and skills available. If you need a lawyer, you want that person to be up to date on precedents, case law and trends. Change is a certainty, especially in professional fields such as medicine, law and finance. Their dynamic nature demands continuous education for the people who practice them. That's where continuing education classes come in. In many fields, continuing education isn't an option. But, Lawyers, doctors, nurses, architects, teachers and many other licensed professionals must complete a certain number of credit hours to maintain their professional certification. Licensing boards, often set up by state government agencies, set standards and ensure that individuals comply. The license holder is responsible for finding and completing courses -- and then providing proof to the licensing agency. It protects professionals by ensuring they keep their skill sets current, preventing those skills from becoming obsolete.
This lets you scan the articles on the page more efficiently. Sometimes you'll even spot more headlines that you might never have seen buried on the original page. Don't feel badly if you haven't heard of RSS -- you may have already come into contact with it without knowing its name. Some Web-browsing software automatically detects RSS feeds. Firefox and Opera display the now-common square orange badge for a Web feed in the browser's address bar when they find RSS feeds on a site. You'll see a similar symbol in Internet Explorer's toolbar. Safari shows a blue rectangle with "RSS" written in white letters. Those emblems show the presence of active RSS feeds on a site to help you get started. Click on one, though, and you'll get a list of options which may seem a little intimidating if you don't know what they mean. Some sites have multiple feeds for the same page with different versions of RSS or a competing standard, Atom.|Are transitional seasons like spring. Autumn getting shorter thanks to a changing global climate? If you live in Earth's middle latitudes, you're accustomed to experiencing four traditional seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn, also known as fall. That existence in the two bands stretching across the planet from 30 to 60 degrees both north and south of the tropics offers a lot more variety, weather-wise, than on the equator, where there's basically a hot dry season and a hot rainy season. Ditto for the upper latitudes, whose residents get a cold winter with long dark nights and a slightly less-cold summer with longer daylight. To be technical about it, there actually are two different ways of defining the seasons. There's the astronomical definition, which is based upon change in the length of days, which is caused by the relative tilt of the Earth's axis as it revolves around the Sun.
